Date Posted: 3/24/2006Positions Available: 1Department: Operations & EngineeringJob Description: Responsible for the maintenance and intergity of TelePacific's SS7 Network in all serving markets. Develop standards to proactively insure the health of the Network. Engineer and coordinate with internal and external groups the planning, ordering, testing and implementation and/ or re-configuration of link sets and route sets. Maintain SS7 monitoring system used to trouble shoot a varitey of translations, fraud, billing, and SS7 troubles.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements: SS7 Tier II support - Use SS7 monitoring system as a tool to assist with trouble tickets, work with Fraud department and law enforcement agencies on fraud issues, work with Oracle DBA to generate customer reports for trouble shooting, billing, regulatory, fraud and executive summaries. SS7 Monitoring System Maintenance - Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on database files and backups; work with switch maintenance technicians to wire probes to SS7 links when new links are established, maintain login and server permissions. SS7 Link Performance - Manage SS7 provider from a performance and cost perspective, interface with Translations Engineers to establish routing for new links and documenting link set routing information, track up-time and facilitate issues with outages. SS7 Link Utilization Analysis - Monitor and generate link utilization and capacity reports, track historical link performance, compare actual TCAP queries to billed TCAP queries and resolve discrepancies. Research and Development - Research and test potential products, applications and procedures that could enhance TelePacific's SS7 network; build relationship with existing and potentail vendors and service providers. Forecast and Planning - work closely with Traffic Engineers to prepare for network augments and expansion. Documentation - Keep accurate documentation of SS7 Network configuration and engineering designs. SCP Duties - Maintain the SCP platform and provision appliations. Work with switch techs to insure the health of SCP platform and services.Experience/Education: 3+ years Telephony experience, translations experience; firm understanding of ANSI ISUP, SCCP, TCAP, and AIN messaging; knowledge of SS7 Networks. Strong PC and Desktop applications skills (MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, Visio, Power Point) Capable of working independently as well as within a team Strong written (documentation ) and verbal communications skills Strong interpersonal skills Must be able to travel Must be able to work all hours
