AUTOMATION TEST ENGINEER

Description: Project Objectives:

Developing and maintaining computer-based tools used by the Internal Revenue Service tax auditors, revenue agents, tax examiners, appeals staff, customer service representatives, and other functional support personnel..


Project Tasking:

SENTEL personnel use requirement specifications to design, code, and integrate updates for each of the Report Generation System (RGS) programs and new applications. The majority of the Windows NT programs are written in Visual Basic, with a subset in Visual C++, wrapped around embedded objects written in "C" programming language. The primary method of interaction is through Graphical User Interface (GUI) and currently utilizes MS Access databases. The tool operates on data entered by download, transcription, or user input and performs various required calculations or procedures to determine the correct tax liability and any tax deficiency interest and or penalties that will be assessed. The integrity and correctness of data and calculations is of utmost importance for the RGS product and for all IRS users of RGS.

Education: 4 Year related degree or equivalency


Requirements: At least 3 years of progressive experience in testing and implementing automated test cases for applications developed with IDEs such Visual Basic, .NET, HTML, and/or Java. Experience should include creating and editing automated and/or manual test scripts using SQA Basic, VB, TSL, and/or VU in scripting environments such as Rational Robot, Rational Test Manager, and Rational Test Factory or equivalent.

Additional skills useful with testing the RGS product suite include knowledge with COM/DCOM, COM+, ADO, and API Level Programming with Visual Basic for the Windows NT and Windows XP operating systems, and experience using the Rational Unified Process. The candidate must have testing experience with applications developed on one or more of the following programming technologies: VB, VB .NET, C/C++/C#, Java, Javascript, Active Server Pages, XML/XSL, and/or SOAP. This experience must have been obtained within the past 5 years. Preference will be given to individuals who have performed in small, independent work teams. Experience with Rational ClearCase, ClearQuest, and Perl, as well as batch processing concepts is a plus.
