RESEARCH ENGINEER/GRANT WRITER Department of Mechanical Engineering - Engineering Mechanics Michigan Technological University A research engineer/grant writer position is available in the Department of Mechanical Engineering - Engineering Mechanics at Michigan Technological University.

Grant writing will involve coordinating and writing competitive, technical, and collaborative research grant proposals. Compile technical and scientific background information, designs and methods from multiple sources to form single cohesive grant applications.

Research will focus on powertrain and IC engines. Responsibilities for this position include assisting researchers with technical and collaborative research grant proposals, provide training to graduate and undergraduate students, and overseeing daily operations and maintenance of IC engine laboratory equipment.

BS in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in IC Engines required, advanced degree preferred. Candidates should have experience in research and/or development in the laboratory, experience planning and developing effective technical materials of a scientific nature and experience operating, maintaining and calibration of laboratory equipment. Familiarity with personal computers and basic software packages required. We seek and individual with a high level of interest and motivation as well as strong research and academic preparation. Academic and employment recommendations should speak authoritatively concerning these qualifications.
