Research & Development Engineering Manager

Compensation:
There is assistance available for relocation.
This position is located in Wichita, KS and will report to the Director, Research and Development. The main purpose of this position is to understand the needs of the targeted consumer and to identify, evaluate, and implement feasible technical solutions that meet those needs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Acknowledge validated consumer needs and analyze new technologies that meet those needs.

· Analyze new technologies and evaluate the potential to commercialize

· Manage research and development project (internal and external resources, facilitate meetings, etc.)

· Conduct research, patent reviews, and state-of-the-art studies REQUIREMENTS

· Must have knowledge of theory and practices of a technical field with an understanding of engineering principles normally acquired in 4 years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree in engineering or physics

· Minimum of 5 years experience (with a Bachelor's degree) in a research and/or product development capacity as described below

· Exceptional analytical skills, above average knowledge of physics and engineering fundamentals

· Demonstrated high level of creativity and entrepreneurial experience (preferably in consumer products)

· Systems design experience (e.g. refrigeration, combustion, fluid, etc.)

· Strong mechanical background

· Working knowledge of broad range of disciplines from which to formulate solutions

· Experience with project management

· Excellent interpersonal skills in a corporate setting

· Experience designing consumer products

· Hands-on approach to product development

· Well-rounded experience and ability to design with a variety of materials (e.g. plastic, metal, fabric, etc.)

· Good knowledge of production and manufacturing processes, and use of engineering software, ie. ProE

· Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written

· Capable of working in a cross-functional team environment

· Strong problem solving potential

· Excellent Business Acumen
