DuPont Safety & Protection has a need for (3) Mechanical Reliability Engineers and (3) Electrical Reliability Engineers within the Tyvek® business unit at the Spruance site located in Richmond, Virginia. The Spruance site is located near the border of Chesterfield and Henrico Counties in Richmond. Nomex®, Kevlar® and Tyvek® are just three of the DuPont businesses represented at this partially unionized site. The Tyvek® Business Unit is a billion dollar business manufacturing Tyvek® roll goods. TYVEK® is made by flash spinning polyolefin resins, a process unique to DuPont. This highly versatile product is used in a variety of consumer applications - air and water barrier in the construction industry (TYVEK® house wrap is the most well known example) , protective apparel, graphics and medical packaging used in the medical applications.
The primary function of the Reliability Engineers is to provide reliability engineering improvements to the Tyvek® manufacturing operation. The role of the reliability engineer will be to develop and implement comprehensive short- and long-term reliability plans based on data derived through a variety of failure and life cycle analysis techniques as well as information gained through troubleshooting, historical records, and existing performance measurement systems. Successful implementation of plans is expected to drive significant uptime improvements year over year.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop, lead and implement reliability improvement initiatives to improve area uptime. Maintain metrics to accurately measure equipment reliability Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF). Develop engineering solutions for chronic and sporadic equipment reliability problems and work with technical, production and maintenance to implement solutions. This would include helping build and upgrade maintenance procedures and auditing to ensure improvements are sustained. Provide engineering support to existing reliability improvement specialists in areas of vibration analysis, lubrication, oil analysis and corrosion detection. Provide leadership to organization on the latest Reliability and Maintenance technology and Best Practices. Continuously seek new technology and improvement practices. Provide stewardship to process safety critical equipment program. Lead predictive and preventative maintenance on critical equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
A BS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, coupled with at least 2 years of experience as a maintenance engineer, equipment engineer, and/or reliability engineer in the chemical process or related industries.
Mechanical Engineers: Experience with rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes, centrifugal compressors, couplings, extruders, etc.).
Electrical Engineers: Experience with and troubleshooting Electrical Control equipment systems.
Demonstrated ability to translate reliability improvement techniques into engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability.
Understanding of reliability theory and methods of reliability assessment and how to apply the methods to existing equipment.
Demonstrated ability to conduct reliability improvement efforts in a continuous process.
Demonstrated ability to lead Root Cause Failure Analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions from it.
Demonstrated ability to select and implement predictive maintenance technologies for rotating equipment.
Demonstrated ability to specify and conduct quality assurance audits at vendor repair facilities.
Experience with Maintenance Best Practices.
Experience with Planned Maintenance.
