Under minimal direction, provides management of Regional Project Development (PD) teams to a high utilization. Responsible for planning and staffing to the Regional Solution Sales Plan and Pipeline. Leads professional development and implements standardized tools and processes for the Regional PD team. Establishes team objectives and manages team efforts to achieve Regional productivity, volume and gross margin goals. Accountable for ensuring the development of viable projects, including the justification of projects through relevant quantification of value. Responsible for determining profitability of projects, assisting in market planning, assisting in developing sales strategies, and productivity improvements for the team. Leads the integration between project development, solution development and operations. Ensures performance across the Region, responsible for resource allocation to projects as needed.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Manages and develops an assigned Project Development Team to a high utilization.

Manages several Project Development Managers within a Region. Ensures performance across the Region, responsible for resource allocation Deto support targeted and qualified projects.

Reviews elements of the solutions as prepared by the Project Development Team. Reviews risk analysis for the portfolio of projects.

Directs the efforts of the Project Development Team to provide specific functional and technical expertise, including presentation assistance, estimating, technical and financial analysis, etc. Leads the integration between sales, project development, and operations.

Implements JCI's standardized tools and processes. Establishes, tracks and reports various performance metrics.

Matrix reporting to the Program Development team in Milwaukee for the express purpose of establishing and deploying Solutions wide standards, sharing and incorporating "Best Practices", reporting performance metrics, establishing and actualizing Learning programs for PD, and limited resource sharing.

Provides Field and customer feedback to Program Development leadership or Marketing for new offerings and existing offering enhancements. Provides similar information to Global Learning Services (GLS) for product training needs.

Ensures that the workload is properly allocated within the team and provides support for peak workload. Reviews manpower levels, providing manpower forecasts and plans.

Responsible for attracting, retaining and developing Project Development Team members. Sets goals and objectives for individual team members consistent with the goals and objectives of the Program Development organization. Provides regular performance feedback and conducts formal annual performance appraisals.

Responsible for representing Johnson Controls, Inc. in professional and market related organizations on a Regional or National basis. Also responsible for remaining current with engineering standards and practices.

Responsible for the promotion of and adherence to JCI safety policies.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS


Bachelor's degree in engineering, or a related technical field, MBA or other appropriate graduate degree desirable. Requires ten or more years of engineering building-related systems or services. Registered Professional Engineer, Masters in Business Administration, or Advanced Engineering degree highly recommended. Proven leadership skills and experience in managing a technical team requiring multi-project management skills. Strong process orientation and development skills with the ability to motivate subordinates. Strong planning and organization skills. Experience in recruiting and developing people. Previous exposure to facility operations and cost accounting. Excellent business analysis capabilities. Strong Project Management skills are necessary. Formal report writing experience, and excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary. Possesses solid working knowledge of common computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, etc.). Travel approximately 30%, primarily within Region.
