Reactor Services Tooling - Non Destructive Examination
Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: *Calibrating probes and connecting them to data acquisition systems and pulsar/receiver systems.
Assembly and fit up of scanners and other mechanical devices used for automated inspections.
Testing ultrasonic probes. Most of the tests will be performed using conventional probes but some tests will also involve phased arrays.
Documentation of test results.
Development and qualification of new inspection techniques based on empirical results.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: *BS degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or Physics.
Basic understanding of the principles and mathematical laws that govern basic wave phenomena such as reflection, transmission, refraction and diffraction.Desired: *Proficiency in AutoCAD (Version 12 or Higher), Mechanical Desktop or AutoDesk Inventor and Microsoft Office products is preferred.
A basic of physical acoustics or any other discipline involving physics of waves such as electromagnetism or structural dynamics will also be helpful.
Familiarity with ultrasonic test equipment is a plus but not required since the basic functionalities of the systems used at GE Nuclear Energy are easy to learn and system-specific manuals will be provided.General: The position involves working with GE Nuclear Energy, Reactor Services engineering on various Non Destructive Examination (NDE) development projects. These projects include development of ultrasonic NDE techniques for performing weld and component inspections at nuclear reactor sites and documentation of existing techniques.
