Reactor Operations Specialist
Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: OperationsResponsibilities: Reactor Operation
Business operations assistance in areas of sales, customer development and operations performance
Maintenance planning and conduct for NTR including scheduling, methods and performance
Quality Assurance implementation
Production work including film developing, set up and radiography
EHS Compliance - Meet NRC issued license conditions, implement regulatory and Corporate EHS policies
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Associates degree in Science or Engineering (or demonstrated equivalent)
Minimum of one year experience with implementation of a Quality Assurance program
Minimum of one year of project management experience (planning, scheduling, cost management)
Minimum of three years Nuclear Experience; specifically to include the following areas test reactors, and/or Power or propulsion reactors, and/or Special nuclear material and/or Byproduct material (University level education may meet up to 2 years of this requirement)
Ability to quickly qualify as Senior Reactor Operator
Ability to qualify NDT Level I for neutron radiography (then progress through to Level III)
Familiarity with basic mechanical, electrical and electronic systems
High level of attention to detail, ability to follow procedures and methods in accordance with specific requirements
Ability to quickly sort relevant information from irrelevant information and make good decisions when information is scarce or unavailableDesired: Previous license or qualification as a reactor operator, reactor supervisor or reactor watch officer
Minimum of one year customer interface experience
Minimum of one year regulatory interface experience
Non-destructive Testing Certification (NDT) Level I, II or III in neutron radiography
Minimum of one year experience with DOT HazMat shipping
Demonstrated ability to work well with teams of diverse people, diverse ideas, in a matrixed environment
Strong external focus; understanding of how to develop and maintain customer relationships
Ability to deal effectively (and with integrity) with complex, ambiguous and contradictory alternatives
Demonstrated ability to develop credibility with customers, manager and peers
Demonstrated high energy and the ability to team with others
Willingness to put in extraordinary hours when required
Strong social skills ability to comfortably engage co-workersGeneral: Responsible for the safe, compliant, efficient operation and utilization of the GE Nuclear Test Reactor (NTR) at Vallecitos Nuclear Center (VNC). Reactor operation, handling customer products, reactor systems maintenance, training and personal qualifications are included duties. Position requires significant attention to cost and schedule commitments as well as critical interactions with customers and regulatory agencies.Eligibility Requirements
