RF Optimization Engineer

Purpose: A leading wireless company in the Chicago land area is looking for consultants to perform RF optimization using optimization tools provided with software upgrade. The qualified candidate will fill out a closely knit group of experienced professionals in place for the coming year. Some travel to local markets will be required for this project.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Qualified candidates should be able to prepare basic BSS/BSC commands in order to extrapolate appropriate and relevant configuration data from Network Element Managers. Consultants should be able to understand and validate test collection data, understand how to determine the collection area and optimization area and network changes and their impact to RF performance/data collection. Ability to understand, develop, test and execute neighbor rotations to collect test data is also a plus Consultants will work with RF engineers on the output of the optimization tool and how to implement changes recommended by the tool to optimize their network. The ideal individual for this project is a RF engineer with a background in GSM and/or iDEN who has done frequency planning, statistical analysis of carrier data, and overall network performance. Candidates should be familiar with basic wire skills including termination, wire wrap, etc.). Expertise in statistical analysis, Excel data manipulation and presentation is also needed for this opportunity.

DESIRED SKILLS:

- Ability to prepare basic BSS/BSC commands in order to extrapolate appropriate and relevant configuration data from Network Element Managers.

- RF optimization skills (preferably GSM and/or iDEN)

- IP communication systems, testing, and fault location procedures

- Understanding of PDH/SDH signaling routines as fault location indicators

- Basic knowledge of wiring skills

- Expert in statistical analysis using Excel data manipulation and presentation
