RAID Engineer

RAID Development Engineer, this position is for a Development Engineer for RAID,SATA and SAS products within ESG. The SAS/SATA/RAID team is closely tied to most of the development organizations, including the platforms, OS teams, systems management, hard drives, and storage enclosures. The position provides the opportunity for helping to set the technical direction for a major subsystem, and responsibility for its implementation into the larger server system. RAID development engineer would participate in setting the technical direction for RAID products within ESG. This includes feature definition, supplier selection, development process execution and improvement, integration testing, fault isolation and resolution, manufacturing release, and resolution of design issues found in the field. Duties include all activities necessary to take a design from concept to production including, architecture definition, schematics, debug, test, issue resolution and factory ramp support. Strong working knowledge of PCI, Serial ATA, Serial SCSI, and FC protocols. Experience with RAID system solutions in multiple implementations: embedded, PCI adapter, external controller. Strong understanding of key RAID concepts: striping, caching, parity, failure&recovery, redundancy, performance, IOP hardware acceleration. Ability to: identify potential product weakness; provide design guidance/recommendations for improvements to subsequent redesigns; drive cross-functional development efforts. Understanding of systems; firmware; device drivers; server and storage management strategies; and application in an enterprise environment and ability to drive technical issues to root cause.
REQUIREMENTS
Strong working knowledge of PCI, Serial ATA, Serial SCSI, and FC protocols. Greater than 5 years experience with RAID solutions in multiple implementations: embedded, PCI adapter, external controller. Strong understanding of key RAID concepts: striping, caching, parity, failure&recovery, redundancy, performance, IOP hardware acceleration. Ability to: identify potential product weakness; provide design guidance/recommendations for improvements to subsequent redesigns; drive cross-functional development efforts. Understanding of systems; firmware; device drivers; server and storage management strategies; and application in an enterprise environment and ability to drive technical issues to root cause.
