Quality & CMM Technician

Job Summary
Reporting to the Metrology Manager or its designate, the Quality & CMM Technician is responsible to measure parts using hand tools and other types of equipment and to set up CMM, accurately measure and interpret components to drawing and provide reports, and program machines. The Technician is also responsible for any additional projects that might be assigned to them.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
•Responsible for effectively setting up CMM and Optics machines.
•Responsible for managing the machine set-up schedules.
•Responsible for completing first article and partial layout reports.
•Responsible for fine-tuning process so that quoted cycle times is met.
•Incorporating error proofing and mistake proofing of process.
•Responsible for managing assigned projects
•Responsible for training operators after process has been optimized
•Responsible for setting fixtures as necessary.
•Interface with customers.
•Act and perform consistent with the policies and procedures of the company.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience Requirements:
•Engineering, Journeymen tool & Die maker, mold maker or machinist or equivalent experience preferred.
•Thorough knowledge of English and Metric dimensioning.
•Thorough understanding of setting tools.
•Thorough knowledge of SPC.
•Knowledge of PPAP.
•Full understanding of Gage R&R.
•Thorough knowledge of GD&T tolerances.
•Understand the process of FMEA.
•Understand the importance of ISO9000/QS9000 manufacturing environments.
•Understand and implement continuous improvement techniques on projects.
•Understand concepts of Lean manufacturing.
•Knowledge of MS excel and word.
•CAD experience a plus.
•Reverse engineering experience a plus.
•Needs to be good with numbers, geometry, trigonometry.
•Blue print reading, inspection or machining experience.

Relationships/Contacts:
•Meet with Metrology Manager, QA, and Engineering.
•Attend the daily production schedule meeting to coordinate production requirements
•Communicate with all shift personnel on assigned projects.
•Communicate to customers as assigned by project.
