QUALITY ENGINEER-WARRANTY &FAILURE ANALYSIS

Position Summary:

A Quality Engineer is needed to develop and execute business processes and reports for Warranty and Failure Analysis of returned products from the end-user of Thermadyne products. The preferred candidate will evaluate failures or performance / quality issues on products that primarily include gas welding & cutting equipment, medical/HP&I regulators, manifolds, air/fuel equipment and arc accessory equipment. This person will work with several functional teams including Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance Departments at multiple locations, Customer Care, Product Line Management and Sustaining Engineering to resolve warranty issues through the preferred processes. The processes include inspection and audits of returned goods, evaluation of returned goods, sorting of issues, reporting of issues by product line and product family category, working with subject matter experts in engineering / manufacturing / quality assurance to determine root cause, tracking the corrective action implemented and reviewing warranty policy for current and new product introductions.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or other technical program with an emphasis on quality assurance and product testing.
- 2 to 5 years of experience desired in inspecting hard goods similar to product lines described.
- Familiarity with welding processes and gas regulation systems.
- Familiarity with production processes, both assembly and test.
- Eager to develop spreadsheets and database information to effectively report issues and results.
- Ability to work effectively at all levels in the organization and desire to manage project tasks.
- Excellent communication skills
REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities:

•Develop effective work instructions and processes to sort, aggregate and manage issues with returned goods returned to Warranty
•Develop quality failure analysis methods for determining root cause of warranty failure working with subject matter experts for each product line.
•Develop reports based on database information stored in Customer Care, QA, and other Thermadyne functional areas to effectively provide information to Product Line Management, Operations, and Engineering.
•Help reduce warranty costs through effective identification and prioritization of warranty issues.
•Generate Corrective Action Reports (CARs), Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs), and other QA reports to assure closed loop processing of actions to resolve quality and warranty issues.
•Work with new product teams to review warranty strategy proposals on new products and reliability data gathered on similar products and beta models.
•Lead and supervise a team of quality inspectors that support the warranty program
