Purchasing Engineer

We are looking for an Engineer to come work in our procurement department located at Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella, Iowa


The Supply Engineer is responsible for the strategic initiatives that lead to increased quality, decreased total costs, and enhanced technology. This position strives to create understanding and consensus regarding Vermeer’s global sourcing strengths and deficiencies by reviewing and establishing domestic and global suppliers. Also, the Supply/Purchasing Engineer is to research, find, compare and notate prints and sample parts, evaluate for accuracy and completion, to implement the cost reduction initiatives; evaluate, establish and assess price quotes on commodity; establish and strengthen relationships with the suppliers as well as the Vermeer Engineering teams by providing technical input relative to component design, material selection, and cost improvement requirements for multiple projects; collect data based on established testing protocols from various departments, and compile vendor information, performance data, defects, and warranty data in the appropriate format; communicate data results to the Management Team using appropriate presentation tools i.e. spreadsheets, graphs, grids, presentations etc, propose strategy.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications include Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical with 1-3 years of procurement or testing experience preferred; and/or combination of education and experience, along with knowledge of engineering and procurement fundamentals, required. Experience with CAD, Solidworks and Project Manager is a plus.
