Project Subcontract Manager

We are committed to making a difference in these critical areas by providing technical services that solve such global challenges.The Project Subcontract Manager is responsible for assisting the Project Director in RFPs, negotiating with subcontractors and producing subcontracts. Must oversee subcontractors, facilitate and validate proper performance and assure that subcontractors follow proper procedures in insurance, billing and bonding. Will act as liaison between the prime and all subcontractors, both technical and construction. Will oversee negotiations, including union negotiations. Will be responsible for the integration of subcontractor support across the breadth of the project and resolution of subcontractor support conflicts. Will be accountable for overall evaluation of subcontractor performance. Must be able to effectively communicate the goals of the Prime Contractor to team leaders and managers of the subcontractors.
The Subcontract Manager will also be responsible for guiding subcontractors from the conceptual stages through designing, planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, and close-out. Will maintain subcontracts within parameters established by the prime in budgets, quality control on deliverables, manpower, contract issues and risk management strategies and will oversee coordination with Prime on time schedules and milestones. Will communicate with Project Director to assure understanding of the major task areas and communicate this information to subcontractors. Provides guidance for the development and maintenance of a high performance subcontract project team. REQUIREMENTS
Ten + years subcontract management experience required, preferably in large, complex construction projects. Must be familiar with California Lien Laws, removal of liens, etc. The Subcontract Manager reports to and coordinates with the Project Manager and represents the prime contractor, Tetra Tech, in negotiations with 6-12 subcontractor organizations. Must have proven experience in exercising sound judgment and discretion in working with subcontractors while complying with all Company practices and policies, state and federal laws, including OSHA regulations, and legal contractual requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in interacting with management, support staff and client with a high degree of tact and diplomacy. Must be able to provide leadership and ability to guide multiple technical and construction subcontractors to completion of their tasks. Experience with union companies a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Must be computer literate and have extensive knowledge in Excel spreadsheets
