Project Roof Observer
Purpose: PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee will have the following minimum duties and responsibilities:
Technical
1.Serves as Project Coordinator on roofing consulting and design work.
2.Provides professional development to other professional, technical, clerical and support staff employees.
3.Participates in monitoring our professional practice, including QA/QC and UBC protocols, to insure it is in substantial compliance with generally accepted practice.
4.Prepares or assist in proposal submittals.
5.Prepares laboratory-testing assignments on projects in accordance with the testing program established in the proposal.
6.Analyzes field data, laboratory test results and performs calculations necessary for completion of engineering reports.
7.Submits draft roofing inspection reports for review and final reports for co-signature of senior staff members.
8.Reviews design and survey documents as needed.
9.Other duties, as assigned, by Direct Report.
Financial
1.Reviews prebilling invoices and prepares final invoicing as required.
2.Directs project purchases, as required, with input from Direct Report.
3.Within the first six-month period, achieve average chargeability goal of not less that 80 percent.
4.Assists and supports Direct Report in workload and financial forecasting and planning. Manages roofing projects within Facilities Services in a fiscally responsible manner. Reviews monthly project reports with Direct Report and takes appropriate action when required.
5.Contacts and follows up with Clients on invoicing and payment status.
6.Plans and effectively utilizes managerial skills to advance the department?s profitability and the effectiveness of all the roofing and facilities? staff.
Marketing
1.Assists firm-wide in expanding the scope and technological level of roofing services within both our current and future client base.
2.Provides a leadership role in expanding our professional practice in the Houston market initially, with an ultimate goal of expanding our roof design and consulting abilities in all of our offices.
3.Actively participates in specific technical and/or professional organizations as determined by Director, Facilities Engineering Services and Houston Regional Manager.
4.Assists in direct marketing as directed.
Legal
1.Notifies Direct Report, Director, Facilities Engineering Services, and Houston Regional Manager of all potential disputes that may lead to legal claims or litigation.
2.Support Director, Facilities Engineering Services and Houston Regional Manager as requested to settle disputes or defend against litigation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Employee shall possess the following minimum qualifications:
1.Possess Bachelor's Degree in approved discipline, or 5 years plus applicable experience in roofing observations, inspections, design and contract administration.
2.Must be licensed Registered Roofing Observer.
3.Ability to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
4.Good oral communication skills to interact with clients and staff successfully. Speaking with clarity an understanding skills are a necessity to prevent costly and time-consuming problems.
5.Good written communication skills for preparing proposals, reports, and other engineering documents.
6.Good organizational skills to utilize firm resources efficiently and effectively.
7.Possess valid Texas driver?s license and meet firm?s auto insurability requirements.
8.Management skills to supervise project teams and monitor and evaluate progress of projects.
9.Walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and repeated bending as needed while working on sites.
10.Distinguish colors and shades of color for identification and analysis.
11.Heavy lifting and carrying (45+ lbs) for tools and equipment.
12.Ability to comply with attendance and tardy requirements as noted in most current edition of Corporate Policy Manual.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1.Works in a normal office environment and also works outside and is subject to weather conditions.
2.Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction sites and hazards of dangerous chemical/solvents exposure that may require proper safety procedures be followed.
3.Exposed to noise, dust, fumes, grease, and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration.
4.May work protracted or irregular hours due to client needs.
5.Occupational safety and health 40-hour training course or ability to pass course.
