Responsible for the conception, development, refinement, and implementation of manufacturing processes and production equipment to achieve corporate, divisional, and departmental objectives. In most cases, performs these responsibilities while working within an engineering team. Has a good understanding of engineering practices and manufacturing processes.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Conceives and implements projects to improve total productivity in support of profitability objectives. Participates in activities to improve processes and production equipment through application of machine and process engineering principles and lean manufacturing concepts, including Product/Process Preparation events.Supports and may lead the introduction of new products and major product changes into manufacturing while achieving schedule, cost, and quality objectives.Manages machine quotation, conceptual design, detailed design, build, and trial at machine vendors. Supervises installation and integration of purchased production equipment. Manages mechanical, electrical, and machine logic debug in support of integration activities.Responsible for the design of safe processes and equipment. Ensures that ergonomics are considered in all areas of process design and that potential safety and health hazards are designed out during project execution.Provides detailed direction to engineering technicians and other support personnel.Provides engineering support to continuous improvement activities through the active participation in Kaizen events (shop floor, business process, and/or product/process preparation). Enthusiastically participates on Kaizen teams and will in many cases lead team activities.Responsible for generating manufacturing ideas based on current and new technologies. Adapts new materials, processes, and equipment to improve the value of Pella products and the efficiency of manufacturing operations.Responsible for organizing, planning and executing projects on schedule and within budget.Responsible for the effective communication of engineering information among team members, all divisions involved in the implementation of a project or program, and the engineering project manager. Also responsible for active participation in team meetings coordinating the execution of projects.Responsible for maintaining and improving technical and project management skills through training programs offered in-house, through involvement with engineering professional societies, and through other educational opportunities.Responsible for special projects as assigned by the Manager, Engineering Project. These may include (but are not limited to) systems improvements, implementation of new technology, and special committees of either short or ongoing nature. Takes advantage of these opportunities for personal development and travels when necessary to discharge the requirements of the position.Supervisory Responsibilities:

B.S. in Engineering or similar degree from a four-year college or university; and two to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Mathematical Skills:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Abilitiy:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
