Project Engineer-Telecom/Network Equipment: instal, config.-90K

Stable, 33 year old industry leader has an immediate need for a Senior Project Engineer.





The Project Engineer will be responsible for installing, configuring & maintaining various types of telecommunications network equipment within the company's network & customer locations. The Project Engineer must be familiar with Telco or datacenter environments, experienced in cable installation & management as well as DC power termination. This person must be very organized have good communication skills, able to multitask & complete projects on time with minimal supervision. The ability to work after hours, weekends & occasional travel is a must.



Required Technical Skills



1. Familiar with the installation, operation & maintenance of following telecommunications equipment:

- Carrier Access & Adtran M13 muxes

- ADIT 600 channel banks

- Newbridge (Alcatel) 3645; 3612 & 3624 Channel Banks

- Eastern Research DACS hardware

- Fujitsu 4100 Optical Transport

- Cisco routers & switches

- Rad V-MUX



2. Understanding of DS0 level signaling in the following: PLAR, FXS, FXO, Hoot, E+M

3. Utilize TDM transmission test equipment such as, T-BERD 224 & 2209, Firebird 6000, and OTDR for the installation & fault isolation of T-1, DS3, OC3 & OC12 circuits.

4. Experience in fabricating & terminating the following cables: CAT5, 734/735 BNC Coax, 25 pair DSX-1 DSX3.

5. Familiar with terminating power to equipment & DC fuse panels: Hendry, NoranTel.

6. Familiar with color codes, cable management, & lacing practices.



Experience:



1. Minimum of 3 years experience in telecommunications operations & maintenance with exposure to medium or large scale voice and data networks. Knowledge of voice & data in the Financial / Trading Industry is a major plus. Knowledge of VOIP also a plus.

2. Must posses excellent communications skills verbally/written & interact with customers & vendors.

3. Proven ability to work in a mission critical fast paced environment while meeting project deadlines.



Education:



A 4-Year Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred; however this requirement may be waived if the applicant has sufficient related experience.
