Project Engineer - South Texas Project
Business Unit: GE Infrastructure, EnergyFunction: Engineering/ Product DevelopmentResponsibilities: Coordinate the projects, engineering and support teams in addressing and resolving multi-functional project issues.
Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of engineering documentation and equipment packages which meet contract requirements and satisfy project needs.
Support the STP unit 3 & 4 licensing efforts with a high-quality COL application and comprehensive, timely responses to NRC review comments.
Manage incoming and outgoing project correspondence.
Ensure timely and effective responses to Customer and partner/subcontractor correspondence and related interface issues.
Monitor and expedite all Contract Milestones and Customer Deliverables to ensure on-time completion.
Build and maintain the comprehensive project Deliverables Database.
Maintain a comprehensive punch-list of project commitments and expedite actions to ensure that schedule commitments and project needs are met.
Coordinate the GE Team's inputs to Progress Reports and supporting documentation to report project status and issues to the Customer.
Support the preparation of GE-internal operations reviews and business metrics.
Interface with Project Schedulers and Estimators to keep the project on time and on budget.
Support the Projects and Sales organizations on business development activities to help capture opportunities for additional ABWR projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: BS degree in an Engineering discipline.
Proven experience in working with customers, regulators, suppliers and global partners.
Experience in the design, construction, and/or operations of nuclear power plants.
Minimum of 3 years of project leadership/management experience.
Experience in the successful planning, implementation, and fulfillment of large-scale technical projects.
Flexibility to support periodic travel (up to 25% of time, as required).Desired: At least 5 or more years of technical experience in the commercial nuclear industry.
Interest in staying in role/function/business long enough to see impact and develop depth.
Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve complex problems.
Demonstrated project management skills, including cost and schedule control.
Working knowledge of the ABWR design.
Working knowledge of the GE Energy-Nuclear business' engineering processes and change control procedures.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Open communications style and proven ability to develop strong team relationships.
Well-developed planning and organization skills.
Ability to sift through complex information and focus on the critical few priorities.
Ability to make decisions with speed and accuracy, based on best available information.
Proven ability to influence and inspire others to achieve stretch targets.General: Project Engineer for the South Texas Project (STP) nuclear power plant build, supporting the design, licensing, procurement, delivery, and construction of two Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) units. This position will support the STP Project Manager in coordinating project activities and communications between the Customer, GE's Projects and Engineering teams, and our global team of project partners, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers. This position will also be responsible for coordinating the efforts of the GE and subcontractor teams in maintaining project progress and resolving multi-disciplinary technical and commercial project issues.
