Project Engineer/Estimator (for LAUSD)

Purpose: 1. Title Project Engineer/Estimator ? CLAHS #1
2. Duties
2.1 Provide technical and engineering support to PM/CM.
2.2 Coordinate with surveying, testing and inspection and other District staff.
2.3 Under the direction of the PM/CM, be responsible for technical and cost estimating coordination with Contractor responding to field issues.
2.4 Assist in the maintenance of the change management log.
2.5 Log and track all change orders and claims in Primavera Expedition; demonstrate proficiency and experience in construction contract change management.
2.6 Assist in the analysis and recommendations of field issues with the OAR.
2.7 Assist in the maintenance and distribution of current contract plans and specifications.
2.8 Prepare preliminary independent cost estimates of projects for comparison with designer or contractor estimates for OARs to establish negotiating position.
2.9 Prepare change order estimates for OAR.
2.10 Prepare claim analyses and supporting cost estimates.
2.11 Provide support and participate in price negotiations.
2.12 Prepare and maintain project cost and budget accounting records; assist the OAR with the preparation and maintenance of project Budget Modification Requests

3. Minimum Requirements

3.1 Minimum 8 years experience in construction management and estimating of large public facilities or school construction
3.2 Strongly prefer BS or BA in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management or a closely related field; candidate may substitute with extensive experience.
3.3 Knowledgeable in construction contract administration and contract interpretation.
3.4 Knowledge of all CSI sections and be able to independently read/understand contract drawings & shop drawings.
