Program Manager – Defense/Aerospace

The Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) is a private, nonprofit corporation in Cleveland, Ohio. OAI works with more than 100 partners in industry, government and universities to carry out aerospace-related research and technology development, education and training, and networking and information exchange.

Position Description:
This position reports directly to the Vice President of Collaborative Research. Overall responsibilities consist of managing projects from concept definition to completion including: developing program vision and strategies, issuing program directives, developing systems and controls to carry out specific tasks, determining resource requirements, setting priorities and overseeing the implementation of program plans and work activities. In addition, this position will also be responsible for meeting customer expectations, specifications, and quality assurance standards, along with evaluating the performance of program tasks in terms of quality, cost control and program schedules. Typical program managers are responsible for leading between 3-5 programs with combined annual revenues of $1-3 million.

The Program Manager will participate in developing new business opportunities for specific areas and support senior management in securing opportunities. This position may have responsibility for some special projects in new product development, marketing, and industry or university account management. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assembling, developing, and managing a project team, all aspects of project management, and serving as the project’s fiscal manager.

Position will be located in either Cleveland or Dayton, Ohio.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum BS in aerospace-related technical field
Industry background experience relating to public/private partnerships
Technical expertise in aerospace-related technology
Experience with technology development and commercialization
Two to six years related work experience, preferably involving federal R&D funding agencies
Demonstrated Research & Technology Development proposal writing experience
Proven project management experience
Experience in business development and marketing
Excellent technical writing and verbal communications skills
U.S. Citizen
DOD secret-level clearance preferred
