Production Control/Materials Manager

Responsibilities:
Leads material management improvement projects at North American supply base (stability or lean initiatives). Works jointly with suppliers to plan, develop, and implement improved material management systems at suppliers. Sets targets, forecasts impact and monitors activity and results. Conducts training to supplier’s management and associates. Presents to Senior Management as necessary. Identifies supplier’s needs outside of project scope and negotiates additional Honda of America Mfg., Inc. (HAM) support if needed.Daily Tasks:
Gathers and analyzes supplier’s production control data/systems and identifies weaknesses. Facilitates meetings at suppliers. Interacts with supplier’s ordering, scheduling and shipping departments. Interacts with HAM/North American Technical (NAT) supplier improvement projects.Experience:
Minimum of seven to ten years of experience in a high volume manufacturing environment with experience in Materials Management disciplines. Experience with manufacturing planning (planning/forecasting) and production scheduling systems.Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of ERP/MRP system implementation. Familiar with implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives. Inventory control methods and metrics (tracking and accuracy turns). General understanding of various manufacturing processes.Required Skills:
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Possess strong communication skills, and able to interact professionally with all levels of associates in order to promote necessary changes.
Ability to analyze various Materials Management systems and processes.
Ability to recognize organizational and HR concerns on a supplier wide basis.
Self-directed with the ability to provide guidance to others.Desired Skills:
Knowledge of Honda’s Production Control systems (BaaN, GPCS, Legacy).
Experience working at an automotive OEM or parts supplier.
Supplier management experience.
Budgeting and financial skills.
APICS certification.Degree:
Requires Bachelor’s degree in a Purchasing related or Materials Management field or equivalent experience.
