Product / Systems Engineer

Proton Energy Systems, Inc. designs, develops, and manufactures hydrogen generating equipment. Proton's HOGEN® hydrogen generators produce hydrogen from electricity and water in a clean and efficient process using its proprietary PEM technology.

Located in a new 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Wallingford, CT, we are in South Central Connecticut, with easy access to both New York City and Boston. Position Summary: The Product / Systems Engineer is responsible for system design, development, testing and sustaining technical support for PEM hydrogen generator products.

Responsibilities and essential duties include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.)

•Provide sustaining product engineering support to manufacturing, application, installation, and repair of hydrogen generator systems and components. Utilize problem solving skills to determine proper corrective actions; manage actions through the corrective action process and implement corrections via the engineering change process.

•Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications, drawings, standards and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.

•Specify, select and/or design mechanical and electromechanical components, products and systems to meet hydrogen generator product specifications, and coordinate/solicit support from staff engineering to achieve design. Provide engineering cost estimates.

•Estimate design effort, direct and conduct design reviews, perform supporting design calculations and analysis, and manage design change requests for the product

•Plan, direct or conduct verification and validation tests, including fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems, and compilation and reporting of results.


•Review test and field data to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications; recommend design modifications to improve performance and reduce product cost.

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
•BS Engineering, ME, EE, ChE or equivalent
•Minimum 10 years experience in packaged product development role
•Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills
•Demonstrated performance in a team engineering environment
•Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
•Motivated self-starter; desire to learn
•Computer-aided engineering (Pro/E, Pro/Mechanica), hazard analysis, reliability analysis, failure analysis experience are a plus.
