Product Engineering Manager
Fee Paid By Company and Relocation Assistance! . Our Client a TIER 1 supplier of engines to OEM's is seeking a Product Engineering Manager for their Mississippi location. Ideal candidate will posses but not limited to the following:
General Description:
Develop and lead the Product Engineering team at the manufacturing facility. This team's charter is to establish and maintain complete product engineering responsibility for all launched products including:
· Lead effort to establish plant autonomy
1. Identify and resolve resource gaps
2. Establish interface with customer engineering
3. Coordinate installation of CAD resource
4. Manage logistics of personnel and equipment transition
5. Clarify documentation release process
· Lead and Support productivity improvements
· Lead and Support cost reduction activities
· Assess and determine part disposition on product integrity concerns
· Provide New Product Development support
1. Manage resources to support prototype construction and testing
2. Participate in design reviews
3. Participate in preliminary process capability studies
The team supports this activity and plant production through reviewing all Change Management System requests, reviewing component deviation requests, developing and issuing and making print and specification changes through the APCN system, performing data analysis for continuous improvement, and participating in customer quality issues.
Primary responsibility is the direction and supervision of engineering personnel and the control of activity prioritization. Provides the leadership and direction that fosters team progress and the initiative to take on challenging assignments. Capable of guiding problem solving activity and fostering the use and development of pertinent analytical skills.
Considered technical expert with good customer interface skills. Must provide in-depth product focus with ability to perform and manage all of the Key Accountabilities while demonstrating strong Key Competencies. Provides strong project management skills.
"Dotted line" reporting to Plant Manager. Represents Product Engineering on Plant Manager's staff.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Leadership - Creates strong morale and team spirit within the team while actively fostering wins/successes through results.
2. Project Success - Primary responsibility for attaining project and management goals on time and within established budget. May be responsible for establishing project budgets. Responsible for predicting and communicating difficulties in meeting these objectives to management.
3. Program Management - Primary responsibility for managing engineering activities related to production launch and support in production including participation in design reviews, support of prototype construction, testing and preliminary process capability studies and continuing production, DV and PV testing as required.
4. Customer Management - Provide technical interface with customers as necessary to support development, production release, and maintenance of products including ACRM and warranty improvement. This would include professional representation of BW in all arenas of possible customer presence. Responsible for recognizing the need for and initiating appropriate management actions to assure positive customer relationship.
5. Teamwork - Responsible for providing in-plant support of platform team objectives. Considers and seeks out the impact of his/her actions within the team. Actively seeks collaboration with internal and external team members, especially the Powertrain Center.
6. Responsible for supporting division wide cost reduction and containment initiatives.
7. Document Control - Responsible for management of all aspects of document control requirements as indicated in Design Control section of QS9000 Manual at initiation of product launch phase. This would include Design Control files, DFMEA, Parts Lists, Drawings, Specifications and DVP&R's.
8. Prototype Program Management - Support all activities related to the development, testing and delivery of prototype products to customers, plants and internal TS uses.
9. Special Assignments - Responsible for completion of special assignments as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education/Experience
· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical (preferred)
· Greater than 5 years product design and development experience with electromechanical products required
· Production manufacturing experience with Tier One automotive supplier preferred
· Supervision experience in technical business preferred
· Management presentation skills and experience
· Project leadership experience desired
· Familiarity with Program Management concepts required
