Job DescriptionPEG22 - Procurement Engineer LAB
Position Responsibilities: These positions will be responsible for developing, writing, and reviewing technical specifications for laboratory analysis units associated with a nuclear fuel fabrication facility involving a mixed oxide fuel consisting of Plutonium and Uranium oxide. Specifications will be developed for use in a design-build approach to obtaining approximately 30 laboratory analysis units. Laboratory analysis units consist of a glovebox enclosure with various types of analytical equipment contained within or external to interface with multiple organizations within DCS in preparation of specifications including the Manufacturing Design Group, Software Design Group, Facility Design Group, Operations and Construction. In a few cases the position could evolve into a follow-on technical support to the procurement process as Request for Proposals are released for design-build services. In this role as the Technical Representative of the Engineering Group supporting the procurement process, assigned individuals will be the single point of contact within the Equipment Group of the Engineering Department for interfacing with subcontractors to resolve issues, evaluate progress, and monitor adequacy of technical performance. In this role, individuals will interact daily with the DCS Procurement Subcontract Administrator; the subcontractor´s assigned representative and other groups within DCS. Facilitating open requests, issues and needs and reporting status will be major functions of the Technical Representative.
Required Qualifications (include minimum years of experience and degree requirements): Degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and years of experience. Eight (8) or more years of technical process, manufacturing, or fabrication experience. Above average written and oral communications skills and organizational skills. Demonstrated success in managing subcontract work or projects in the size range of $1.0M to $5.0M. Possesses self-start initiative and a positive teamwork attitude toward execution of assignments. Competent in the use of personal computers using common workplace software applications associated with Microsoft Office.
Desired Qualifications (include desired certifications and/or desired education qualifications): Experience working in the nuclear field related to DOE nuclear facilities, commercial fuel fabrication facilities or commercial nuclear power facilities. Familiarization with laboratory analytical processes related to fuel fabrication or with labs having to handle and analyze Plutonium in various chemical forms. Experience working projects that utilize Premivera P3 scheduling application. Familiarization with QA provisions typically applied to work performed for work involved with the nuclear industry. Functioned as technical representative with subcontractors on major equipment purchases.
