Process Safety Engineer

Webb, Murray & Associates, Inc. provides integrated risk management services for the process industries. Since 1974 we have provided fire protection and safety engineering services, system design, project management, and inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) services.

Webb, Murray & Associates’ safety engineering services include hazard analysis, consequence assessment, risk evaluation, root cause analysis, industrial hygiene, PSM and RMP implementation, OSHA VPP consultation, safety procedure development, and emergency planning and response. Our fire protection engineering services include evaluation, audits, preliminary engineering and design, detailed design, design review, construction management, and testing of active and passive fire protection systems. We also provide inspection, testing, maintenance, and installation services for fire protection and alarm systems and safety systems in our customers’ processing facilities from our locations in eight states.

We have an immediate opening for a Process Safety Engineer. We are seeking associates with degrees in safety, petroleum, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering and experience in Process Hazards Analysis and safety engineering. We provide process safety and risk management services to a variety of customers in the chemical processing, drilling and exploration, and refining industries from our consulting engineering location in Houston, Texas.

About Webb, Murray & Associates
History
Webb, Murray & Associates was incorporated in the state of Texas in July 1975. It was founded by two chemical engineers who had been working for DuPont since graduating from college. From its inception until 1980, the company's fire protection and safety work was predominantly with the chemicals, petro-chemicals, and refining industries located along the upper Texas Gulf Coast.

In 1980 the company won a support services contract at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). The first year of that contract represented approximately 30% of the company's total business. Performance ratings were consistently in the high 90s, and several quarterly scores of 100 were received.

During 14 years of service to NASA, our work in the chemicals, petrochemicals, and refining industries continued to grow and expand geographically. In 1993, a strategic decision was made, and the company notified NASA that it did not intend to participate in the next competition. Since moving away from government work in late 1994, our non-government revenues have more than doubled, and they continue to grow steadily.

Organizational Structure
The company has had a flat organizational structure since its beginning in 1975. In the early 1990s, a transformation was begun which further flattened the structure. The entire company is currently organized into groups. Within each of our two organizational elements (external services and internal services) are groups. Each group is led by a senior leader. Titles such as director, officer, manager, and supervisor are not used within our company. Instead, we have corporate leaders, senior leaders, team leaders, and associates.

This structure allows and encourages flexibility, responsiveness, empowerment, and innovation. With this structure, the company is well positioned to continue to provide the kinds of extraordinary services to its customers for which it has become well-known throughout the industry.

REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should possess good computer skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent teamwork and customer-relations skills.Preference may be given to applicants with Master's degree, CIH or CSP certification, or PE.
