Guardian, a worldwide leader in the supply of high-performance glass products to the commercial construction industry, has an immediate opening for a Plant Process Engineer for Wet Coatings to work within our DeWitt, Iowa manufacturing facility. This Process Engineer will be a key member of our Material Science Research team and a critical part of our plant operations. The ideal candidate will have a broad mix of experience and skills in the areas of chemical engineering, product development, scale up, project management, and manufacturing operations.

We are looking for a high-energy person with the self-motivation to take charge and feel a sense of ownership within our new coating operation. The selected individual will be responsible for leading scale up activities at a plant location and coordinating activities between product development, corporate engineering, manufacturing, and operational teams.

This position requires a flexible and adaptable person who can work within an ever-changing environment and look at change as opportunity. The ideal candidate will be experienced in transferring technology to manufacturing and in optimizing operations.

Would you like a vision of what this Process Engineer will be responsible for?

·Working with product and process development teams to prepare manufacturing locations for new processes.
·Lead efforts to establish operating parameters for new processes; conduct optimization experiments; establish best practices and procedures.
·Improving yields, lowering costs, and increasing manufacturing uptime for new products/processes.
·Conducting designed experiments to understand manufacturing processes and improve efficiencies.
·Carrying out experiments to improve product quality.
·Monitoring yields, quality, machine uptime etc and identifying trends.

REQUIREMENTS
This process engineer must be an organized professional with excellent analytical and conflict management skills. What other requirements do we have? Below are key requirements that we feel are essential for success within this position:

·Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering.
·Experience with statistical methods and analysis.
·Experience with scale up and manufacturing.
·Experience with one or more of the following; coating (preferably precision curtain coating), curing, glass cleaning.
·Ability to conduct design and process failure modes and effects analysis.
·Experience with complex projects; ability to analyze problems quickly; development of corrective actions.
·Ability to take charge and lead with confidence; control events; communicate across multiple levels.
·Clear abilities to present and communicate ideas, concepts, and plans.
·Experience with MS Project.
