Process Engineer Location: Mt. Laurel, New Jersey

Scope
Under administrative direction functions as Lead Process Engineer:

Supervises and coordinates the activities of assigned task force
engineers

Schedules and assigns work

Evaluates employee performance and work quality

Acts independently on technical matters, including developing the
scope, setting the basic approach and exploring novel concepts

Assists in the presentation of training programs.
Engineering Assignment


Acts as Lead Engineer on medium to large or may be assigned a part
of a major project under a Lead Engineer.

May be assigned special administrative or technical duties. Job Requirements
Roles & Responsibilities:


Assists in proposal activities to ensure that Process Engineering
scope is correctly addressed. Assists proposal team in document preparation
and, as required, sales presentations.

Reviews client inquiry documents and correctly defines clients
process scope for the proposal.

Reviews client inquiry documents and correctly identifies implied
or explicit plant performance requirements for which client would be liable.

Identifies processes which require or may require licensor design
and agreements.

When required, assists in preparation of secrecy/royalty
agreements.

When required, assists or makes technical presentations to the
client. These presentations must be positive, technically correct and in
accordance with the proposal team objectives.

Develops appropriate level of process design data for the proposal.

Assists in identifying previous related jobs and/or designs.

Assists in developing, for proposal activities and/or the
proposal, necessary process scope, process manpower and process schedule
requirements.

Assists in reviews of cost estimates for the proposed facilities
to ensure agreement with the proposed process scope.
Budgeting / Scheduling


Establishes schedule logic and duration, manhours and budgets for
process activities on major portions of contracts or work orders.

Prepares status reports and contributes to “needs/alert lists” to
keep PM advised of progress.

Demonstrates ability to develop a viable process schedule and
budget identifying process functions/documents necessary to achieve project
milestones.

Carefully monitors and expedites flow of required process input
data and initiates appropriate remedial action when required.

Reviews schedules and manpower forecast periodically to see they
are maintained and achieved within the process budget.

Establishes work priorities and revises priorities when necessary
to meet planned or modified job requirements.
Process Design Basis


Assists in establishing basic process design criteria on contracts
and work orders. Reviews work regularly to ensure compliance with process
design basis.

Ensures that design will meet guarantee, licensor and client
process requirements.

Assists in establishing a well defined process design basis for
the plant or system operating conditions and objectives.

Establishes process design criteria which incorporate contract
requirements and provide a correct and consistent process design.

Establishes and/or identifies process guidelines specific for the
project.
Flow Diagrams


May be responsible for establishing basic design criteria including
flow diagram philosophy. Ensures consistency in flow diagrams of different
units by spot checking. Ensures that all the process engineers are
thoroughly familiar with the flow diagram philosophy and procedures.

Establishes basic design criteria related to the flow diagram
philosophy and check lists before the flow diagram work starts.

Ensures that all the units are consistent in basic philosophy such
as piping around steam turbines, decoking facilities, design etc.

Ensures that all process engineers are thoroughly familiar with
the flow diagram philosophy and procedures.

Ensures that the predetermined schedules are maintained.

Provide innovative designs.

Maintains constraints.

Ensures that metallurgy flow diagrams are established and reviewed
to establish consistent and correct materials of construction for piping
and equipment.Equipment Datasheets:


Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of process and utility
equipment specification sheets. May be responsible for establishing
equipment design criteria. Assists lead engineer in review of general
narrative specifications for equipment and design engineering. Ensures that
all process engineers under supervision are thoroughly familiar with
equipment design criteria and procedures for issue, updating and review of
equipment specifications. Ensures consistency of equipment specification
sheets with regard to data, format and procedures.
Understands importance of the equipment specification sheet as a
communication tool with other disciplines.
Prepares detail design specification for all equipment.
Reviews input from other disciplines for compatibility with
process design for all equipment.
Ensures that all process engineers under supervision are
thoroughly familiar with equipment design criteria and procedures for
issue, update and review of equipment specifications.
Ensures consistency of equipment specifications sheets with regard
to data, format and procedures.
