Principle Network Engineer

Support US Coast Guard Enterprise IT Engineer by performing advanced telecommunications network analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance; perform supervisory responsibilities; perform additional duties as assigned. The Enterprise Management Facility (EMF) (ISD-2C) Active Directory/Forrest Manager is responsible for managing the enterprise forest and network infrastructure. The forest manager (FM) will be responsible for final system testing on products and upgrades as well as the distribution of products and upgrades. They document and report final testing results of products tested, coordinate installation of products on servers or workstations, and create rollout schedules; coordinate product rollouts with other functional and operational areas. The FM maintains department schedules electronically on the USCG TISCOM’s Intranet site for all functions. They send notifications of updates to products and documentation availability to Coast Guard units. The FM will evaluate staffing issues, outline staff duties. The FM maintain milestones schedule, ensure Rollout(s) are performed according to schedule, and creates and maintains routine maintenance procedures and schedules. The perform routine maintenance on all hardware and software, create and maintain FM operating policies and procedures for CG approval, create and maintain Emergency Response policies and procedures for Coast Guard approval. Maintain and manage MSAD replication as engineered. The FM reviews product documents as well as maintains documents, drawings, maps, etc. of enterprise. The FM provides support for help desk, EMC, and CG units. The FM will support the EMB by evaluating, analyzing, and recommending improvements to overall infrastructure health and operating efficiencies. This entails change, configuration, problem (root cause analysis), availability, capacity, continuity and release management of all enterprise assets.
REQUIREMENTS
•Requires 10 or more years of related experience in telecommunications network development. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Masters Degree preferred
•Must have experience with Microsoft implementation at the enterprise level; Professional certification in one or more specific technologies highly desired; MCSE 2000 or above
•Travel in support of USCG migration up to 7-10 days per month two to four times per year
•Expert knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques involved in network engineering; Knowledge of and ability to use relevant hardware, software and other equipment
•Ability to serve as a technical team or task lead; Strong communications skills; oral and written
•Must currently possess or be able to quickly obtain a DOD security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
