Principal Systems Safety Engineer (Gov't Systems)

Prinicpal Systems Safety Engineer will provide safety analysis, safety guidance, and mentoring in safety processes to diverse product teams. Activities include conducting MIL-STD-882C/D safety analyses and SAE ARP-4761 safety analyses required for FAA certification. Activities would include conducting Safety analyses including (Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Assessment (PSSA), and System Safety Assessment (SSA), Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMEA / FMECA), capturing and documenting requirements, fault tree analysis, common mode analysis, verifying implementation of safety features, and assisting in training and mentoring of others in safety skills. Must be a self-starter, capable of working several simultaneous projects and possessing facilitation and negotiation skills. Familiarity with other disciplines such as testability, maintainability, logistics, and reliability desired. Experience in Software Safety analysis desired.

Experience in safety assessment of avionics flight critical equipment design, systems engineering principles, hardware and software design concepts is required for higher labor grades. Knowledge of commercial safety processes and regulatory requirements is also required for higher labor grades. Candidate must be self-motivated, posses effective communication skills, and be willing and able to multiplex across a wide variety of systems engineering tasks.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field or six years related exempt experience plus ten years related exempt experience.
