Principal Info Security Engineer Risk Management / Information Security

Location: Denver, CO Job Responsibilities: This role will be specifically charged with leading and further evolving the information security risk assessment process at Qwest. This leadership role will likely have a small team of engineers as direct reports. Activities include: proactively identifying higher risk areas of the Qwest infrastructure for assessment; developing threat models and other assessment tools; ensuring reports and findings are delivered in a timely and appropriate manner to risk management, operations and business leadership; and identifying and integrating risk assessment with key business processes to enable info security risk assessment of both new and existing programs. This position also provides expert direction and industry perspectives in creation, delivery, and integration of diverse & complex security solutions and operational processes. Additional responsibilities to include: consult as subject matter expert across Qwest with architects, analysts, engineers and others on solutions; work independently & as leader to develop & execute strategies; mentor/coach others; and consult with internal clients on security topics providing designs, reviews and recommendations in compliance with corporate policy, standards, procedures and industry best practices. REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
10-15+ years of experience in application, system, network and/or firewall engineering, administration, design & implementation including experiences in applying methodologies & principles for all levels of security. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field. Applicable professional/technical certifications should be in place or candidate must be willing to pursue. Experience in engineering leadership and/or management of small teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Broad technical knowledge of current and emerging technologies used both within the Qwest corporate infrastructure and in delivering customer-facing services, particularly next generation network services and IP transport technologies. Preferred Job Qualifications: Advanced degree (Master's, Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field. Professional/technical certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, CISM or CISA.
