Plant Supplier Quality Engineer
Purpose: Immediate need for a Supplier Quality Engineer for our client in Long Beach-
The Supplier Quality Engineer will work on behalf of our client to ensure that its products meet purchase specification and quality/reliability requirements. He/she also will drive process improvement through both supplier manufacturing process and incoming inspection and in-process data analysis. The Supplier Quality Engineer must interface effectively and build cooperative working relationships with contractor manufacturers, piece part and sub-assembly suppliers, and client internal organizations. He/she must also demonstrate attention to detail and documentation, and possess strong verbal/written communication and computer skills.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
-Review/modify/create manufacturing Bills of Materials, product/assembly drawings and specifications and Purchase Specifications.
-Work with Engineering to assist in the design and release to Manufacturing of all components, sub-assemblies and top-level products.
-Audit/qualify suppliers and their production processes to ensure that purchase specifications and quality requirements are met.
-Coordinate component PPAP and production approvals with operations and customers.
-Work with Operations and Engineering to generate reduced costs through the improvement of manufacturing process, product quality/reliability and product sourcing.
-Coordinate with Engineering to plan, schedule, and implement the utilization of RoHS compliant materials, components, and processes in all products.
-Work with Operations/Purchasing to drive supplier process and materials compliance with RoHS/WEEE requirements.
-Work with Engineering and Operations to ensure that all product documentation and products reflect the appropriate marking, labeling, and packaging to meet RoHS/WEEE requirements.
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
Education & Experience Requirements:
-BSME or equivalent
-Minimum of 7 years Quality Engineering experience in a high volume machining environment, preferably with medium sized companies.
-Demonstrated experience with continuous manufacturing/BTO process creation, improvement and auditing within diecasting, machining, and stamping environments.
-Demonstrated experience with ISO9001:2000, WEEE and RoHS compliance
-Demonstrated understanding of quality metrics, process characterization and mapping, Product Quality/Reliability management/improvement techniques, APQP/PPAP, LEAN Manufacturing, DFM/DFT processes, and Continuous Process Improvement.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
-Familiarity with the use of ERP/Document Control systems and Statistical Analysis software
