Plant Manager
Our client is a world leader in the development, manufacture, and marketing of high performance fiber-based materials. Due to growth of their business they are opening a new facility in the Florence, South Carolina area. They have a requirement for a plant manager.
Key Accountabilities/Essential Functions:
· Oversees the manufacturing operations of the production operation, implementing efficient manufacturing methods including process control measurements and setups, utilizing knowledge of product design and scheduling, materials and parts, fabrication and weaving processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, quality control and shipping requirements, to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan in order to maximize the production efficiency of the facility. Works consistently with documented Company / ISO 9001:2000 standards and procedures, along with established Company safety guidelines.
· Schedules and coordinates production activities with the Maintenance and Shipping Departments, optimizing production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
· Assists Company officials and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position, and the profitability of the operation.
· Achieves optimum employee levels with the least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
· Responsible for the training, development, and performance evaluations of the production staff, with corrective action taken as necessary on a timely basis, in accordance with Company policies.
· Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., quality, productivity, training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, morale, etc.).
· Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems, following up with corrective action plans.
· Manages departmental performance measures, maintaining raw material and stock inventories, including visual controls, and provides regular progress reports to the Plant Manager.
· Possesses a broad understanding of Company products and delivery schedules.
· Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education, Technical Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in textiles, business or industrial engineering along with five (5) years experience in textiles, either weaving or knitting.
· Working knowledge of yards, weaving machines and fabric formation. General knowledge of warping, slashing or beaming. Knowledge of Malimo equipment an advantage; Weaving experience a requirement.
· Two (2) years experience supervising and directing a workforce of fifteen (15) or more employees. Must have working knowledge of Human Resources, Quality Control, Maintenance functions and general computer knowledge.
· A thorough knowledge of engineering principles, concepts, and trends affecting equipment.
· A thorough knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 concepts.
· Computer literate – Microsoft Windows/Word/Excel and Company software.
· Excellent professional, written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and statistical skills.
· Experience in a team-based environment.
· High level of initiative and independence in managing responsibilities.
