Planning Engineer (Transmission)

Presently seeking a Planning Engineer (Transmission) to work at our TAMPA, FL headquarters. The successful candidate will be performing the following tasks:

A. Performing engineering studies in the area of transmission planning as well as other studies of a technical nature.

B. Performing required transmission/substation planning.

C. Planning up to ten years in the future.

D. Representing the company on various Florida Reliability Coordinating Council (FRCC) activities.

E. Keeping abreast of new technical developments and regulatory changes and requirements in the area of transmission planning.

F. Various other responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

Must have a thorough knowledge of utility systems and operations. Should have a working knowledge of transmission planning, load flow, transient stability, short circuit, load forecasting and engineering economics. A general understanding of utility finances and rate-making principles is required. Must have good communication skills. Must be able to utilize computer programs to perform system planning studies. Must be able to understand complicated issues and/or instructions.

Normal office conditions. Travel to technical seminars, conferences, professional meetings, and field trips to member headquarters may be required.
