Performance and Benchmarking Engineer

SGI is seeking a Performance and Benchmarking Engineer to join our team of experienced professionals. Candidates located near our Mountain View, CA or Eagan, MN locations are preferred, however exceptional remote candidates will be considered.
As a Performance and Benchmarking Engineer you will work on performance characterization and validation of industry standard benchmarks on SGI hardware systems.
This individual will be primarily responsible for:
Optimizing, running and reporting on industry standard benchmarks. Porting, optimizing, and running customer codes and benchmarks for procurements. Working on new hardware to test for performance regressions and correctness to diagnose problems. Ability to do application performance profiling on a variety of system configurations, document results, and analyze trends. Frequent interaction with SGI product engineering and marketing on current and future product features and directions. Willingness and ability to attack a wide range of technical problems is critical. Some travel is required. Familiarity with Intel compilers and tools and interaction with Intel the SGI System Engineers community. REQUIREMENTS
BS in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or equivalent. MS or Phd preferred Experience in porting and tuning complex scientific or engineering applications in a cluster environment and SMP Experience with some High-Performance Computing applications area or HPC software development is a plus Strong analytical problem solving skills Proficient in programming in Fortran and C Experience in parallel computing (OpenMP and MPI) Knowledge of C++ and scripting languages such as Python or -PERL are highly desirable The candidate needs hands-on knowledge of compilers, scripting, & Linux. Good interpersonal communications skills
