Salary:$4,153.00 - $6,136.00/Month, plus generous benefit package

The Position:
Under general supervision, conduct field inspections on public works projects and programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local codes and standards and contractual provisions. Inspect all aspects of public and private construction and improvement work, including streets, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, traffic signals, storm drains, sewers, with emphases on water lines, water meters, hydrants, service line, fire lines, cross connection control devices and related utilities and structures. Ensure appropriate construction and documentation is completed in compliance with applicable plans, standards, specifications, special requirements, codes and regulations including all requirements for federally funded projects and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects. Write correction notices and daily inspection reports. Perform compaction tests. Serve as a member of a land survey. Coordinate activities and schedules with utility companies, contractors, property owners and other City departments. Respond to inquiries and complaints. Maintain a variety of logs and records; prepare required reports.

REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience and Requirements:
Associate degree in engineering or a closely related field, a Public Works Certificate from an accredited Jr. College and two (2) years experience in public works project inspection, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to obtain a Water Treatment Operator Grade T-1 from State of Ca. DHS within one year. Preference given to candidate with a Grade D-1 or higher Water Distribution Operator License.

Candidates will be required to pass a Background Investigation that may include Reference checks, Physical, Drug/Alcohol testing, Department of Justice fingerprinting.
