Position: SAN/VMware Technician
Location: Washington, D.C.
Compensation: $70-80K dependent upon experienceDirect Hire needed to start immediately.HP SAN expert specializing in the deployment of popular database technologies on high availability systems involving Storage Area Networks. Responsible for ensuring the availability of systems and services hosted within the datacenter. The consultant will build and deploy new systems in addition to providing extensive technical support. You will have exposure to SAN and NAS configurations thus an understanding of both would be advantageous. This position will also require technical support to customers who are working to implement VMware Servers and related products.Responsibilities:"Provide technical expertise to Storage Architects, Business Partners and Customers on system design and planning. Detailed knowledge of server operating systems, TCP/IP networking and related hardware is a must.
"Conducts analysis and publishes information on recommended configuration settings, tuning and optimization for connecting storage products.
"Responsible to advise and consult on complex server or network requirements.
"Defines integrated product solutions using third party products, develops and executes test plans, and documents solution papers.
"Participates in new product development. Must be able to define, in detail, features and functions required for current or new products based on user requirements.
"Provide technical expertise to Storage Architects, Business Partners and Customers on database system design and planning in SAN environments.
"Create and deliver highly technical presentations, whitepapers and training.
"Participate and/or lead cross functional teams when required.
"Consultant will conduct a technical analysis of the current VMware system, develop a written report detailing their recommendations and assist in implementing any configuration changes the AO deems necessary.
"Consultant will provide set up, installation and support for HP SAN devices.
"Consultant will provide knowledge transfer of VMware software to selected project staffQualifications:"Extensive knowledge of HP SAN hardware
"Experience with high availability, clustered systems.
"Demonstrated technical depth in systems, storage, software and networks. Must be able to generate detailed solutions and/or specifications for customer requirements.
"Working Knowledge of VMware
"With a minimum of 5 years experience supporting Unix servers (Red Hat, Linux and Solaris/Intel).
" Minimum of 2 years supporting a large server population.
"Some UNIX kernel diagnostics/debugging preferred.
"Experience with other DBMS a plus.
"Requires excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
"Experience in generating and various technical documents and reports.
"Experience in a customer support or technical support environment
