Under the direction of the Director, Operations Engineering, develops and executes project work plans in support of performance improvement and process innovation initiatives. This will involve structuring analytic frameworks, and successfully guiding performance improvement, process redesign and change management activities involving multiple departments and stakeholder groups. It will also involve leading and/or supporting the critical analysis and perhaps radical redesign of existing hospital business processes and workflows to achieve enhanced levels of clinical, financial, service and operational performance.Principal Accountabilities and Job Duties:

Guides project teams and trains team members in conducting performance improvement and process redesign projects using appropriate analytic and facilitation techniques as the situation requires – 35%:Structures and conducts best practice research, process analyses, bench marking and performance baseline measurement activities.
Improves the process using performance improvement methods such as DMAIC, FMEA, re-engineering, Six Sigma and lean techniques.
Identifies the process or operational area requiring redesign or improvement, develops project plans, facilitates meetings to accomplish the identified tasks, and documents project outputs.
Develops analytic methodologies and collects and presents data analysis results.
Measures current organizational and process performance using a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques including: one-on-one user interviews, user workshops, surveys, observational studies, and statistical analysis.
Develops process maps of existing and future state processes using appropriate techniques and software.Utilizes key business skills to guide project leadership and team members in achieving the stated business objectives – 30%:
Uses strong oral and written communications skills to effectively convey project progress and results to working groups and executive steering committees.
Applies strong group and process facilitation skills in leading groups and individuals in challenging the status quo.
Brings a strong understanding of the fundamental drivers of a hospital's business performance to the table during project planning and execution.
Possesses a strong understanding of the change management issues and systemic changes (e.g. organization structure, performance metrics, information systems, role changes) associated with large scale change.Project/deliverable management, documentation and communications – 35%:
Develops project and analytic workplans and performs project management to ensure timely project completion.
Develops communications strategies and assists in the preparation of communications material to convey project plans, progress, proposed changes and outcomes to multiple levels of the organization.
Supports capital planning activities by ensuring that capital requests are accompanied with clearly identified business and workflow impacts as well as financial impacts (e.g. ROI).
