O&M Technician

Purpose: O&M Technician Job Description: National environmental consulting firm seeks entry level operations management technician to assist in environmental remediation in the Oakland area. The Lead technician will perform remedial system O&M and groundwater sampling, including daily field reports, O&M scheduling, equipment requisition and billing. All candidates must have current certifications.


Responsibilities:
- Participate in field sampling activities for areas that have been impacted by petroleum products. Follow EPA and other external and internal procedures for multi-media sampling.
- Perform field support activities including site visits, soil sampling and groundwater monitoring. Perform some office support such as data entry.
- Operate and maintain various groundwater and soil remediation systems, site characterizations (soil and groundwater), remedial construction, groundwater monitoring, environmental utilities/facility operation and emergency response.

Required Experience/ Skills / Education:
- Ability to read and write effectively and to read and follow drawings and written instructions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills. Computer knowledge in the MS Windows desktop environment.
- Must be a team player with a strong work ethic.
- High school degree.
- Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
- Physical ability to maneuver field equipment and supplies of up to 50 lbs.
- Awareness of excellent safety practices.

Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of and experience with operation and maintenance of soil vapor extraction and groundwater treatment systems with related field experience
- Experience working on sites such as service stations and fuel terminals impacted by petroleum products.
- Experience with subsurface environmental investigations.
- Knowledge of state leaking underground storage tank programs, soil/ground water sample collection procedures.
- Construction and/or electrical experience
- First aid and CPR training
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training
