Nurse Unit Manager - RN -
Great opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager, which offers competitive pay, great benefits, a fantastic work environment. Manhattan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LLC has an immediate opening for a Nurse Unit Manager. Manhattan N and R, is a 180 bed skilled nursing facility that emphasizes superior medical staff specializing in geriatric and rehabilitation measures to offer a wide range of in-house services. Our team is comprised of Physicians, Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Rehabilitation Therapists, Social Workers and Registered Dietitians.Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Unit Manager has authority, responsibility, and accountability for the overall management of residents on a designated unit. The Unit Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising the activities of all nursing staff engaged in specific nursing practices and is responsible for transmitting each unit’s staff concerns to the appropriate department supervisor.
Some key responsibilities include :
Plans effective administration of nursing care in cooperation with other health related disciplines on each unit.
Evaluates incidents and determines emergency measures to be used. Assesses and directs emergency treatment to residents and staff involved in accidents. If necessary, notifies the physicians.
Completes the incident report with causes investigated and corrective actions taken and/or suitable recommendations made to avoid recurrence. Updates the care plan with new interventions.
Supervises planning of daily assignments for personnel on the unit.
Works with interdisciplinary team members in developing a discharge plan for individual residents and assists in achieving discharge planning.
Assists in orientating and directing new staff.
< Assists in establishing and maintaining a positive staff and good public relations.
Is available for emergencies and assistance to nursing staff as needed.
Communicates and acts as a liaison among residents, family, physicians, and staff.
Informs the director of nursing services of pertinent information concerning resident status, staff actions, employee attitudes and suggestions.
Conducts resident rounds to assess and/or supervise nursing care, assess condition of residents, and safe, clean, comfortable environment.
Audits staff nurses to ensure that all resident care systems and processes are followed per policy.

REQUIREMENTS
Maintains a current valid license as a registered professional nurse in good standing.
Possesses a minimum one year of experience in nursing service administration. Additional education or experience in such areas as rehabilitative or geriatric nursing is a plus.
Possesses knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations as they pertain to long term care.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
