Nortel Technician/Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Experienced in the building, configuring, programming, and administrating of Nortel’s Norstar & BCM as well as Avaya Partner ACS products/applications, including the VoIP technology.

Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

Guide remote technicians in the installation, testing and troubleshooting of pre-programmed systems.

Programming all system functions of the ACS and Norstar MICS/CICS by way of a phone and/or the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Remote Utilities program.

Programming all the functions of the Partner PVM, Mail VS, Messaging, Norstar Call Pilot, NAM and Flash voicemail systems including CCR tree, Auto Attendant, Voicemail and Call Center.
Demonstrate the ability to instruct fellow technicians thru proper programming of Avaya systems over the phone.
REQUIREMENTS
Be proficient in the wiring, fabrication and testing of backboards.
Attention to details and following Customer standards exactly is a must.

Work in a quick and steady pace to maintain scheduled production without compromising quality.

Must be proficient with the use of Windows operating system and its component parts like Word and Excel. Documentation of all work will be expected.

Must have excellent troubleshooting knowledge and techniques pertaining to phone systems, voicemail systems, in-house wiring of all types and telephone company circuits including loop start lines, DSL, T1, fractional T1 and channel banks.

Will be required to take field technician support calls 24/7/365

Nortel Norstar MICS/CICS, BCM Certified or experience leading to certification desired.
