Viskase Corporation, a global manufacturer has an immediate opening for a New Products Development Engineer. This is a full-time technical project management position. The New Products Development Engineer will conduct and coordinate experiments/analyses to develop new products (from new materials and/or processes), to accomplish the desired goal of delivering enhanced products to meet the needs of Viskase’s worldwide customers.

The responsibilities of the New Products Development Engineer will be to plan and direct cellulose research and development projects of major impact to Viskase, where the complexity of such projects requires a broad application of knowledge in the fields of chemistry, engineering and polymer/viscose extrusion. This successful candidate must be hands-on enough to run pilot trials, as well as customer/plant diagnoses and trouble shooting. The implementation of new products and processes in existing operations requires good team building and communication skills as well as technical ability. In addition, the successful candidate may direct/manage the activities of members of a multi-disciplinary research team. The candidate would review progress, evaluate results, recommend future work, prepare new proposals/estimates, and communicate via highly visible reports/patent disclosures/team meetings. Travel is required to existing and new plants worldwide for training and project execution. New products and processes may come from mergers and acquisitions worldwide, requiring travel and assessment of pertinent cellulose technology. The New Products Development Engineer must develop industry resources/contacts as well as gain good knowledge of the industry and applications. Generally, this position operates with considerable latitude, reporting to the Director of New Products Development.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must have a formal B.S. or M.S. Degree in engineering, packaging, or polymer science. Experience/training in cellulose product manufacturing is a significant plus for applicants.
