New Product Introduction Engineer - (NPI)

This operations team member will help support a large engineering development project involving a new team of electronics and mechanical engineers. The focus of this new product manufacturing engineering role is highly technical and requires collaboration with hardware design teams at early stages to assure new products are designed for ease of manufacturing, high product quality, and low cost.

Candidates should have a strong track record working with mechanical and electronics engineers in developing highly manufacturable new products.

Expertise and job requirements are as follows:

Provide design guidance based on strong knowledge of PCB DFM issues and process engineering expertise in PCB assembly, SMT, thru-hole, and printed circuit board processing. Review PCB fab designs for proper stack-up, line width/spacing, SMT/BGA pad design, foil thickness, mechanical testability, material, masking, reworkability, panelization, component orientation/spacing, plating, hole size tolerances etc.

Perform detailed mechanical reviews and provide manufacturability input to the design team for chassis-based systems. Candidates should have past experience with volume sheetmetal processes, plastic fabrication processes, chassis production tooling, process tolerances, and other chassis materials.

Provide process technical leadership based on a strong knowledge of electronics assembly process technology trends. Must provide technical leadership in developing RoHS compliant products and process technologies. Collaborate with other manufacturing engineers to leverage process expertise that exists elsewhere in Juniper.

Provide guidance to production engineers at outsource manufacturing partners. Develop processes, run experiments and assess development builds. The end goal is to achieve smooth ramp-up to volume in a remote, outsourced manufacturing site.
REQUIREMENTS
Requires a BS (EE or ME), or equivalent and at least 8 years of manufacturing engineering experience supporting new product development teams in a DFM role.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be a highly motivated self-starter and an excellent collaborator.
