Juno Lighting Group comprises a family of eight lighting category brands, and is a single source of lighting manufacturer for commercial, retail, industrial and residential applications throughout North America. Our Des Plaines, Illinois facility seeks a New Product Development Engineering ManagerReports to :Director of Engineering
Overall Purpose and Objectives
Supervise and manage engineering design teams to deliver quality new products while meeting product cost objectives to the served market in a timely basis.
Manage new product development process to incorporate new technologies and achieve innovative designs while improving speed to market.Manage personnel in a matrix environment responsible for the evaluation and career development of a large group of people that are also managed through project leaders. This will require gathering information from multiple people to perform accurate evaluations.Understand true customer expectations and exceed those expectations with new product introductions.
Create a positive group atmosphere that is results oriented.Assist engineering personnel with career development. Have a strong desire to develop personnel and promote from within when applicable.
Primary Responsibilities
Update, improve and maintain product development process.Track and report design activities including major milestones (tollgates).Supervise and manage engineering personnel participating in the electro-mechanical design engineering of lighting products.
Serve as a liaison between manufacturing and engineering to facilitate the introduction of new products and major product modifications into production.
Work with Engineering Project Leaders and Business Unit Managers to develop and maintain multiple complex product development schedules.Meet or exceed schedule timelines for product development projects.Ensure new products meet or exceed the developed specifications.Introduce new products that meet cost targets and control project costs to stay within approved amounts.Drive communication and cross-company collaboration and support for new products.Stay abreast of and participate in evolving lighting and electronics technological developments.Skill setsTechnical depth and understanding of lighting products and/or similar technologies.Minimum of 5 years experience in the lighting industry and/or similar technologies.Customer Focus, serving both internal and external customers.Communication skills with suppliers (domestic and foreign).Verbal and written communication skills.Negotiation and conflict management skills.Ability to deal with multiple personalities and diverse strengths and weaknesses.Cross-Group collaboration.Pro/E 3-d design experience or other 3-d modeling experience.Manufacturing knowledge including assembly, casting, plastics and sheet metal.Supervisory ResponsibilityResponsible to manage several levels of engineering personnel; entry level to Senior Project Leaders.
Responsible to evaluate multiple personnel requiring input from several others.
Qualifications
Bachelors Science Engineering degree plus 5+ years experience in the lighting industry and/or similar technologies.3-D design literate.Experience with BAAN enterprise system beneficial.Schneider Electric Company is an equal opportunity employer.
