Job Description:
The Network & Security Operations Engineer coordinates and performs technical support for Ernst & Young’s wide-area, local-area, remote access, and Data Center networks, as well as the Firm's security systems, including firewalls and proxy systems. This professional participates in the daily monitoring and maintenance of all related hardware and software-based systems, responding to detected and reported problems and interfacing with vendor support service groups to ensure appropriate notification during outages or periods of degraded performance - Under supervision, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and provide overall Tier II support for designated components of the Firm’s network and security infrastructures, including the implementation of resolutions for network and/or security issues or the escalation of more complex problems to higher levels for resolution - Provide on-call support and point-of-escalation services 24x7x365 - Assist in performing standard system, hardware, and software upgrades for designated network and security systems - Provide technical support to the Firm's business units during testing, implementation, and production phases of new resources - Perform standard hardware, software, and system maintenance/upgrades to ensure optimum reliability and availability of critical global Firm resources - Perform standard configuration updates and rebuilds for designated network and security systems to support new or evolving connectivity requirements - Assist in developing procedures and documentation relating to hardware, software, and system support requirements and updates Shift: 3rd shift - weeknights (Mon to Fri) Midnight to 8 a.m.Ernst & Young LLP, an equal opportunity employer, values the diversity of our work force and the knowledge of our people.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: To qualify, candidates must have: - a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience Experience: - approximately 2 to 4 years experience in Cisco router/switch configuration, Cisco/Nokia firewall configuration, LAN/MAN topology experience - knowledge of MS Office, Windows 2000/XP, Lotus Notes - experience with network services (DNS, DHCP) a plus - experience with Help Desk ticketing systems, preferably Remedy, a plus. Skills: - excellent problem-solving skills and a high degree of self-motivation - excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills- the ability to work and team effectively with clients, management, and staff members in a multi-tiered support environment
