Legg Mason's Technology Services department seeks an individual for a Network Engineer II-Exchange 2003 position at our Owing Mills, MD, location.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Further design, develop, and implement of an existing Exchange 2003 environment for an international organization.
Provide risk assessment, cost benefit analysis, scalability, capacity planning calculations and industry trends for each design.
Concisely document all projects using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. Present this work for technical review.
Create a Microsoft project document that concisely describes all project tasks and the amount of required time necessary to complete each task.
Have the ability to independently work on assigned projects while maintaining and updating the project schedule.
Closely work with peers to maximize team knowledge transfer and to maintain a high level of teamwork.
Routinely maintain ownership of the Exchange architecture as well as all assigned tasks and projects.
Supply a consistent excellent level of technical support and follow through on all production escalated issues.
Provide enterprise system engineering manager functionally as needed.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree.
3+ years experience of Exchange experience.
REQUIREMENTS
SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Hands on server experience with the installation of Microsoft 2003 Server Operating System and Exchange 2003.
Specific roles of an Exchange 2003 server and how they interact with Active Directory 2003.
Specific technical examples of in-depth troubleshooting in an environment with Exchange 2003.
Strong experience with TCP/IP networking, DNS and current popular networking protocols and topologies.
Experience with at least two of the following technologies: ISA 2004, Blackberry v4.0 or higher, Microsoft Live Communications Server, FaceTime, Microsoft HIS, or SurfControl
Strong experience with Microsoft Office particularly Excel and Word.
Excellent multitasking ability of technical projects and the ability to work in a fast paced environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MCSE Windows 2003 + Messaging
Working knowledge of SAN technology
