Network Engineer (10985)

Install, configure, tune, document, maintain, diagnose/troubleshoot, analyze/test, to ensure optimum performance of all network components for the Bright House Network's Central Florida Division’s Wide Area (WAN) and Local Area (LAN) Networks.

Work with the network team to maintain, upgrade and install Cisco network equipment.
o Keeping the operating systems up to date.
o Applying tested best practices to current configurations.
Work with the network and telecom teams to coordinate deploying new video and VoIP solutions and equipment.
Planning and configuring proper QOS for the delivery of quality video and VoIP to the end user.
Troubleshoot and solve network related troubles in the data infrastructure.
Troubleshoot and solve network related issues relating to the delivery of quality video and VoIP to the end user.
Respond to help desk requests and resolve end user issues on a daily basis.
Work with the network infrastructure team to plan new office connections utilizing the best technology available.
Installation of new network equipment in current and new office locations.
Periodically install new network cabling and/or re-terminate old drops.
Keep the network equipment inventory current so that the network team can do proper capacity planning.
Keep network diagrams and documentation up to date to facilitate disaster recovery and infrastructure planning.
Maintaining and managing the various servers the network team has responsibility for.
REQUIREMENTS
Hands on Cisco experience – 2 years.
o IOS configuration skills.
o Cat OS configuration skills.
o Experienced with various Cisco hardware platforms:
Routers (1700, 2600 and 3600 particularly useful).
Switches (3500XL, 3550, 3750, 4600, 6500 particularly useful).
PIX firewall.
VPN Concentrator.
ASA 5540
o Familiarity with CiscoWorks a plus.
o Familiarity with Cisco Secure ACS a plus.
Experience with and a fundamental understanding of TCP/IP networking.
Experience with video and VoIP technologies and associated protocols.
o A basic understanding of H.323.
o An understanding of QOS and DSCP fundamentals.
Experience with network infrastructure maintenance and technologies.
o LAN technologies like Ethernet and wireless.
o WAN technologies such as T1 and virtual private networking.
Experience with network wiring and terminating equipment.
o An understanding of the 568a and b wiring standards.
o An understanding of the difference between CAT 5 and CAT 5e standards.
o Experience with 110 block and patch panel termination.
Experience with servers and the services that provide network functionality.
o An understanding of and experience with DHCP, DNS and NTP.
o Practical experience with Windows server (NT, 2000, XP or 2003), Linux (Red Hat and SuSE useful) and/or Solaris (2.6,7,8 or 9).
Experience with troubleshooting techniques and tools.
o Experience with some type of network sniffer – ethereal, Network General, etc.
o Experience with toning equipment.
o Some experience with network analyzers – such as Fluke.
Familiarity with VISIO and network diagramming
