NC Programmer

Provides numerical control, machining, and programming technical expertise to cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams. Establishes technical requirements for manufacturing and producibility. Plans, creates, verifies, and revises machine control data and documentation that directs the operations for numerically controlled machines and robots required to manufacture and inspect parts, tools and assemblies. Plans and guides the development and integration of new machining techniques and manufacturing methods, processes, and software. Defines, plans, revises MCD for multi-axis machines with complex parts or tools. Defines and designs complex fixtures used to manufacture or inspect parts. Facilitates the incorporation of new machines and machining or inspection techniques. Improves the quality of supplier-provided work.


Requirements:

Apply knowledge of engineering data, applied cutting tooltechnology, machining characteristics of metals, metallic component manufacturing processes, fixtures and machine characteristics to determine the best method of producing metallic parts and tools. Skills in programming one or more metal cutting processes: machining of extrusions, castings, forging, plate, exotic metals (e.g. titanium, invar, inconel) and high speed machining. Knowledge of processes and materials involved in the fabrication of metallic parts and tools (e.g. heat treating, forming, shotpeening and deburring) Knowledge of how metal parts react to different fixture, cutting tools, and machining techniques; understanding the effects of internal, relieved and induced stresses on metal. Ability to create and verify machine control data and documentation that directs the operation of numerical control machines and robots used to manufacture metallic parts and tools. Prefer 4-yr technical degree plus 4 years NC programming, coordinate measurement, or machine operator experience, or 6 years NC programming, coordinate measurement, or machine operator experience.Travel: Yes (relocation involved).Multiple openings throughout the US.
