Modeling Simulation Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION -

The candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and validating time-domain, physics based mathematical models of ship propulsion and control systems including electrical, mechanical, and hydrodynamic components. They will integrate the resulting models into system-level simulations used to predict ship and machinery response for a wide range of operating maneuvering conditions such as accelerations, emergency stopping, high speed turns, clutch engagements, clutch disengagements, and propulsor aerations. They will also develop, test, and validate control system algorithms which coordinate commands to all machinery components based on operator commands.

REQUIREMENTS -

- BS or MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Naval Architecture, or Marine Engineering

- 3 to 8 years of experience in mathematical modeling and time domain simulation techniques for linear and nonlinear systems development and system simulation

- Demonstrated experience with MatLab/Simulink/Sateflow or other time-domain simulation tools

- Basic understanding and experience with control algorithm development

- Willing and able to travel in US and internationally

- Able to qualify for US Government security clearance
