Millwright
Primary Function:
To install, maintain, and repair all mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and systems of all plant machinery and facilities.Tools & Equipment:
Standard hand tools used in the craft. Power tools, and equipment, hydraulic press, pipe and tube cutting, threading and bending equipment, plumbing tools and equipment, testing equipment, band sew, taps and dies, micrometers, levels, alignment tools and devices, dial indicators, tape measure, cranes, lift trucks, powered lifts, scaffolds, and ladders.Materials:
Machinery parts, sheet metal, bar stock, angle, pipe, tubing, composition materials, shim stock, lubricants, solvents, acid, fiberglass, plastics, wood, construction materials, zinc, and paint.Direction of Others:
Responsible for own work and occasionally helpers and laborers.
REQUIREMENTS
Millwright Working Procedures:
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic malfunctions on all plant machines or related equipment.
Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Repair or replace defective part, reassemble machine and test for proper performance
Assemble, dissemble, remove, install, clean, and lubricate, as needed, shafts, bearings, gears, pulleys and other hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical parts of machines
Use precision measuring alignment, and testing equipment
Plan, layout, measure, cut, and install plumbing, pipe and tubing.
Repair or replace gauges, valves, regulators and other components of hydraulic, pneumatic and other fluid powered equipment or mechanical systems.
Connect or disconnect electrical equipment or components that are incidental to repairs
Perform construction and rigging activities as required
Prepare for repair and repair zinc posts as needed
Perform work through "the work order system". Record work performed and materials used
Must be able to work in elevated and difficult positions
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and sketches. Must be able to draw own sketches and schematics as needed
Work with little or no supervision. Assist in training as directed
Operate lift trucks and powered lifts as required
Research, design and order all hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical devices, materials, and components as necessary for projects, equipment maintenance, equipment repair or directed by your supervisor
Keep assigned areas clean
All other tasks as directed by your supervisorMUST OBSERVE ALL PLANT SAFTERY RULES AND REPORT ANY UNSAFE CONDITIONS TO YOUR SUPERVISOR
