Microstation CAD designer

Provide Microstation or strong AutoCAD design skills to support busy engineering group.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for:
• Prepares detail and layout drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge. Assignments regularly include determining material needs and performing necessary calculations using accepted formulas and references per company standards.
• Performs other related discipline tasks in support of project engineer that are non-routine and complex in nature, such as writing procedures; analyzing bids; compiling, computing, and analyzing various engineering design and/or test data; estimating; etc.
• Reviews manufacturers’ or fabricators’ prints for aid in design documents. Provides lower-level design/drafting personnel with design sketches for preparation of finished design drawings, general layouts, and guidance in refining technical requirements.
• Regularly interfaces with other departments, clients, vendors, and project engineers in order to support project production and to resolve conflicting priorities.
• Ensures overall consistency, quality and technical accuracy on design projects.
• Establishes design criteria for all phases of a project requiring the application of basic engineering principles, material properties, and a familiarity with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures. May be required to establish manpower requirements, man-hour estimates, and completion schedules.
• Provides conceptual input to projects during the planning stages.
• Supports field assignments and leads field assignments as required.

REQUIREMENTS
Skills/Knowledge
• 10 years of CAD Designer experience.
• Requires a high school graduate with vocational technical training in basic drafting technology (or equivalent working knowledge/experience). This includes a working knowledge of fundamental CAD applications, with a definite emphasis on Microstation.
• Prior experience in fast-paced environment desired.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in following established procedures.
• Ability to handle several tasks at once, while staying calm and professional.
